Whether you loved the AvP movies or hated them, one thing is for certain: Ridley Scott’s prequel Prometheus completely destroyed the continuity between the Alien and Predator franchises. Though Xenomorphs and Yautja continue to battle within the panels of comics and graphic novels, Shane Black may have reestablished a link between these 2 worlds cinematically.
The Predator is slated to hit US Theaters on September 14 and, according to actor Keegan-Michael Key, AvP will be referenced in some way.
/Films got the exclusive:
Key: “This picture contains a little bit of that as well as some great referential stuff – not just to the original movie, but to Predator 2 and every other movie in the franchise, including the Alien vs. Predator franchise. It pulls pieces from all of the movies. The way he references the movies is really clever, especially if you’re a huge Predator fan, and I’m a huuuuuge fan of this universe.”

Official Synopsis: From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
The Predator’s sizable ensemble cast includes Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Augusto Aguilera (and not Arnold Schwarzenegger *wink*wink*).
