Those of us over a certain age remember a time when there was no PG-13 rating. Films were G, PG, or R, and nothing else (we’re not including adult films, obviously). In fact, PG-13 didn’t rear its ugly head until the mid-1980s. Ever wonder about how this rating came into existence? Well, you can thank movies like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Gremlins for starters.
Of course, the story of the PG-13 rating is much more complex than that. Luckily, our favorite Australian film critic/comedian Mark Bishop has composed a 30-minute documentary: The Rise and Fall of PG-13! It’s an illuminating and entertaining romp filled with the kind of keen trivia that’ll make you feel like a bona fide horror aficionado. Give it a spin and let us know what you think in the Comments section!
