For me, high school was all about Stephen King and “alternative” music. Before school and during lunch (hell, sometimes during classes!), you’d find me plugged into my Sony Walkman, listening to KROQ as I obsessively absorbed one of King’s classic paperbacks. Media artist Butcher Billy (love the moniker, by the way) has combined these two elements of my youth into a fantastic series that reimagines 1980’s era New Wave songs as Stephen King book covers: Stephen King’s Stranger Love Songs! (To be clear, he didn’t make the series just for me—although it sure feels like it!)
If you were (are) a fan of The Police, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Hall & Oats, New Order, and other bands of the era, check out Butcher Billy’s works below, and be sure to follow him on Instagram, HERE.
