I don’t care what anyone says, Ghostbusters 2 was awesome. It wasn’t the flawless masterpiece that was Ghostbusters, but it was a lot of fun. Darker in tone and a little lighter on the in-your-face comedy, it really worked for me. While Gozer was a scary bitch, Vigo the Carpathian was absolutely petrifying. The dude’s gaze alone would send chills travelling down your spine. His actual intentions on the other hand just completely pushed his degree of evilness into uncharted territory. You just don’t mess around with innocent babies. Not even if you’re a homicidal Carpanthian, pent up after spending a few lifetimes inside of a (pretty friggin’ impressive) painting!
The man who made that happen was Norbert Grupe, aka Wilhelm von Homburg, and as the brand new mini-doc from YouTube channel No Small Parts shows us, the guy lived a pretty damn fascinating life. You want to watch this (seriously, you really want to watch this!), as it’s an informative and entertaining 20-plus minute video, and the perfect time consumer on a gloomy weekend.
Watch it below, and take a moment to tip the hat of respect to a wild fellow who gave us some awesome characters in films like Die Hard, In the Mouth of Madness and of course, Ghostbusters 2!
