It’s been weeks since Gun Media and IllFonic unleashed Friday the 13th: The Game upon the masses, and survival horror may never be the same. It’s caused a resurgence in popularity for all things Jason Voorhees related while interjecting the gaming landscape with a much-appreciated dose of classic horror!
Jason Voorhees has come a long way since the early days of computer gaming. Even before the baby-blue and purple palette of 8-Bit Jason on NES, he first appeared on the Commodore 64 in 1985! The video below from Krypt Values takes us on a nostalgic journey through time and back into the present with every iteration of Jason ever committed to code. Mrs. Voorhees baby boy is all grown up now!
Jason’s colleague Michael Myers will also be getting a digital remake in the realm of survival horror gaming when the Halloween Chapter of Dead by Daylight hits shelves sometime this winter. Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical, multiplayer (4 vs 1) horror game where one player takes on the role of a savage killer, and the other four players become survivors frantically scurrying to avoid being caught, tortured and killed. Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey.
