American Gods premiered on Starz this weekend, and fans of hallucinatory, vivid horror should consider it a must-watch. Based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, it’s a psychedelic thrill ride overflowing brutally choreographed violence and the kind of magical realism rarely produced in America. It’s a return to form for series showrunner Bryan Fuller, the brilliant creative mind behind the unjustly discontinued Hannibal series. The first episode was nothing short of stunning, with an unbelievable sex scene that everyone will be talking about.
Official Synopsis: A recently released ex-convict named Shadow meets a mysterious man who calls himself “Wednesday” and who knows more than he first seems to about Shadow’s life and past.

Episode Description: A man, broken and alone, wishes only to survive his time in prison long enough to see his wife again. Although unexpected news releases him from prison early, it is hardly the news he wishes.
