Per Jonathan Barkan and our good friends over at Dread Central, Jason Blum (of Blumhouse) announced last night at the 2018 SXSW (South by Southwest) Film Festival, that the sequel for the 2015 horror flick Unfriended has officially been designated, Unfriended: Dark Web, changed up from the previous title, Unfriended: Game Night.
The new film is directed by Stephen Susco, the writer behind such films as The Grudge and its sequel as well as Texas Chainsaw 3D. It stars Betty Gabriel (of last year’s phenomenon and this year’s Oscar-winning Get Out), Rebecca Rittenhouse and Stephanie Nogueras.
Official Synopsis: “A teen comes into possession of a new laptop and soon discovers that the previous owner is not only watching him, but will also do anything to get it back.”
The film premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival (in what was apparently a “secret” screening) and is scheduled for a wider release later this year.
