Before I ventured into Stephen King territory, A Wrinkle in Time was one of the first “scary” books I read as a kid. The novel by Madeleine L’Engle, first published in 1963, was and is a unique mix of sci-fi, cosmic horror, and coming of age that strikes a chord in young adults and grownups alike. Disney has been working on a film adaptation, and an astonishing trailer has just emerged. Have a look:
Official Synopsis: Meg Murry and her little brother, Charles Wallace, have been without their scientist father, Mr. Murry, for five years, ever since he discovered a new planet and used the concept known as a tesseract to travel there. Joined by Meg’s classmate Calvin O’Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all the evil in the universe.
A Wrinkle in Time is directed by Ava DuVernay from a screenplay developed by Jennifer Lee; the film stars Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw. Look for it to arrive in US Theaters on March 9th, 2018.
