Industry analysts are predicting that Andrés Muschietti’s IT will rule the Box Office when it hits US Theaters on September 8th. The film adaptation of Stephen King’s best-seller will feature Bill Skarsgård as the infamous “Dancing Clown” Pennywise and is, hands down, the most hotly anticipated film of the year. This means IT is set to break all records for the month of September.
Trackers are predicting IT will bank between $50M-$55M its opening weekend, surpassing the current record holder Hotel Transylvania 2 which took in $48M after a September release. It might seem like IT is a sure bet, but as an R-rated film, achieving the $50 milestone isn’t a given. Still, the excitement generated by a series of trailers that have been doled out since March makes it a realistic goal. Time will tell.
