I want to believe… that Season 8 of American Horror Story will be about aliens!
American Horror Story: Cult, the 7th Season of FX’s mega-hit anthology series launched by Ryan Murphy in 2011, just concluded a few weeks ago. So, is it too soon to begin guessing the theme for Season 8 which, we can assume, won’t hit airways until next October? I think not!
Regular readers of Horror Freak News may remember that I predicted Season 6 (Roanoke) would be about aliens. Obviously, I was wrong, but it doesn’t mean extraterrestrials aren’t in the show’s future. Ever since Kit Walker (Evan Peters) became a repeat abductee in Season 2 (Asylum) many fans have been hoping for a return to the realm of science fiction.
Below are the top 5 reasons we’re predicting Season 8 will (finally) be about aliens; the most compelling evidence is a mysterious teaser of undetermined origins that’s either an exquisite fan film or a clever Easter egg. While we won’t know for sure for many months to come, it definitely worth watching the skies!
“8” Looks Like a Crop Circle
One of the stylistic elements connecting each season of American Horror Story is the unique font characterized by elongated letters, sharp angles, and additional accepts including lines and dots. In this font, the number 8 looks like a crop circle. It seems like a frivolous reason to chose the theme of a season based on a number, but fans have been hoping for a season about aliens for years, so it’s perfect timing.
Aliens Have Been a Subplot But Never a Feature
Aliens were part of the subplot of American Horror Story: Asylum (Season 2) but took a backseat to Bloody Face’s reign of terror, Sister Mary Eunice’s possession, and Sister Jude’s insanity. While a compelling element, the sci-fi angle got lost in the vast mythology of Asylum; it’s time E.T.’s got their moment in the spotlight.
Aliens Featured Prominently in Teasers for American Horror Story Season 6
In the lead-up to the theme reveal for American Horror Story: Roanoke, producers released over a dozen teasers. It was a guessing game of sorts, as only one was an accurate representation of Season 6. While obviously intentional misdirects, several of the teasers featured aliens (examples below), which got many fans hopes up for an out-of-this-world horror experience.
The last promo, Blind Date, which features an amorous union between a human and something else entirely could also tie into to the Dante’s Inferno parallel; that being: The theory that each season of AHS represents a circle of Hell. Could this by what Ryan Murphy and company have in mind for Lust?

American Horror Story Will Go Pure Sci-Fi
American Horror Story: Cult (Season 7) may have been controversial, but it was also the most focused and original chapter in the franchise, lacking any of the supernatural trappings that had become the show’s hallmark. It would make sense that producers would go for another bold innovation in Season 8, and a pure sci-fi season would definitely mine new territory.
Mysterious Trailer/The Return of Kit Walker
In January of this year, a mysterious teaser trailer emerged for American Horror Story Season 8. This is intriguing because, at the time, Season 6 had just ended and the theme for Season 7 wouldn’t be announced for another six months. It did arrive, however, after American Horror Story had been renewed through Season 9, so it makes sense that the producers would have a roadmap for each upcoming season. The teaser speaks for itself, promising that Kit Walker from AHS: Asylum (played by Evan Peters) will be returning.
The source of the video is a YouTube channel called American Horror Story 7 and, while it doesn’t claim an official affiliation with FX, nor is it explicitly a fan site; furthermore, it only posts officially released American Horror Story content. In other words: The authenticity of the trailer (below) can’t be confirmed. While it could easily be fan-made, is it possible producers dropped this Easter egg on a sub-account, tantalizing only a select few before a reveal in 2018?
There’s a deliberate foresight that can’t be ignored. If this is a fan-made teaser, created after Season 6, why didn’t it predict Season 7 would be about aliens? Why did they skip a season?
Have a look and decide for yourself.
