We’ve been following The Nun, a proposed spinoff of The Conjuring 2, since the project was first announced earlier this year. On Monday, we got word that The Nun has officially gone into pre-production with director Corin Hardy at the helm and a script penned by Gary Dauberman and James Wan.
The Nun, aka the demon Valak, was a last minute addition to The Conjuring 2 but absolutely stole the show. But did you know that Valak isn’t a character of fabricated fiction—he’s a real entity, one who has been explored and documented since the 17th Century in books like The Lesser Key of Solomon and The Esoteric Codex. The physical description of Valak is almost nothing like The Conjuring’s Nun, rather he’s a little boy with angel wings. While most certainly wicked, Valak also has the ability to grant strength and wealth to those who invoke him—so long as he finds them worthy!
