One thing fans of The Walking Dead have learned over 6 and a half seasons is that no one is safe. As Glenn’s (Steven Yeun) assassination proved in the Season 7 premiere, even characters who have been around since Day 1 are vulnerable on a show where life is cheap and danger omnipresent. And with all-out war on the horizon for Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl (Norman Reedus), and the rest, we could be losing more of our loved ones in the not too distant future.
So when news comes down that a major cast member has signed on for the lead role on another show (on another network), should we be worried? If so, then we’ll be saying our final goodbyes to Sasha in Season 7.
Per The Wrap:
“Star Trek: Discovery” has cast “The Walking Dead” star Sonequa Martin-Green in the series’ lead role, TheWrap has confirmed. Martin-Green, who plays Sasha on the AMC zombie apocalypse series, will play a lieutenant commander on the titular starship. This marks a major departure from past “Star Trek” series, which have typically focused on the captain of whatever vessel serves as the show’s setting. Martin-Green will continue to appear on “The Walking Dead” while starring on “Discovery.”
While news on The Wrap attempts to allay any fears that Martin-Green is leaving TWD, I wonder what kind of logistics would be involved for an actress working on 2 major shows filmed in different cities? Sounds like a near impossibility to me.
So what do you think? Does Martin-Green’s new gig mean Sasha is a dead character walking on The Walking Dead? Sound off in the Comments section!
