Those who think the zombie subgenre of horror has nothing new to offer would be well-advised to check out Cargo, currently streaming on Netflix. It picks up long after an initial apocalyptic outbreak at a point in history where mankind’s extinction is an ominous possibility. In addition to giving us a fresh perspective, Cargo explores themes of racism and environmental devastation, belonging as much to the eco-horror subgenre as zombies.
The folks at FoundFlix have just released an Ending Explained video for Cargo that recaps the heartbreaking journey of Andy (played by Martin Freeman) and his unlikely friendship with Thoomi (played by Simone Landers). Most intriguing, the video explores the origins of the unnamed virus based on clues seen throughout the film.
