If I was Ridley Scott, I’d be pissed. The latest trailer for the lauded filmmaker’s Alien-prequel/Prometheus-sequel, Alien: Covenant, the TV spot to set to John Denver’s Take Me Home (Country Roads), contains what I’m certain is the film’s biggest spoiler, an M. Night Shyamalan-caliber twist never meant to be revealed—especially more than a month before the movie’s release.
Official Synopsis: Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

If your plan is to be surprised when Alien: Covenant invades US Theaters on May 19th, you might want to turn back now—even if you’ve already seen the Take Me Home trailer. At the preview’s conclusion, a couple of 0.12-second freeze frames prove: Dr. Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus (played by Noomi Rapace) IS the “Neomorph” revealed in previous trailers.
First, let’s review the Take Me Home Trailer, specifically, the hologram scene featuring Dr. Shaw on the Juggernaut spaceship. We see her sitting in what could be the pilot’s seat, or another control panel. Many have hypothesized that this reveals Shaw’s attempts to thwart David’s (Michael Fassbender) attack on the Engineers, a valid theory. But pay extra close attention to the final second of the clip at the .28 mark. Blink and you’ll miss it!
Did you see Shaw transforming into the Neomorph? Check out the sequence of shots I’ve created:
Notice how clearly her arms are bound. This seems to disprove the idea that Shaw is piloting or operating a control panel. She’s being experimented on!
Shaw’s face is clearly visible in this freeze.
Now: The Transformation!

Compare that final shot to the images of the Neomorph, revealed in previous trailers: The tail has the same marbled skin tone and the shape of the head is identical. Case closed!
Not to mention: Those teeth!
