Part of the reason horror fans who came of age in the 1980s and 1990s love the sitcom Roseanne so much is because the show went all out for annual Halloween-themed episodes. When the show returned in March after a hiatus of almost 20 years, many were sad that the short-run wouldn’t coincide with October 31st, and another opportunity to see the Conner family spook it up.
Still, the cast and writers managed to squeeze in a bit of the show’s trademark Halloween hijinks in an otherwise somber Season finale. When an epic storm rolled through Lanford, the Conner’s basement was flooded. While Dan nearly busted an artery cleaning up the mess, the family took the opportunity to look through some old boxes, unearthing some treasured relics.
While it was only a brief moment, it was great to see the showrunners paying tribute to a long-standing horror tradition. Roseanne will return this fall for Season 11 and, this time, we can expect an actual Halloween episode.
