The Crow is looking more like a Phoenix!
The on-again-off-again reboot of Alex Proyas’ The Crow, released in 1994, has been buried and resurrected more time than the franchise’s titular revenant. While it looked like things were firming up at Relativity Media in 2016 with reports that Corin Hardy was attached to direct & Jason Momoa set to star, everything was thrown into chaos following the studio’s bankruptcy. Yesterday, however, we got reports that The Crow had landed at Sony, and things are getting ready to roll in earnest.
Sources say the reboot [tentatively titled The Crow Reborn] will be a more faithful adaptation of the indie comic created by James O’Barr that was first published in 1989.
As for whether or not Hardy and Momoa are still attached:
[I]nsiders say the plan does include them coming on in the near term.
Part of what makes The Crow such a difficult film to reboot is that it’s intertwined with the legacy of Brandon Lee, who was killed in a freak accident on set shortly before the movie completed filming. In addition, Proyas’ The Crow was a spectacular film, and anything less than an A+ predecessor will fail to satisfy fans.

The Crow is based “a comic book series created by James O’Barr. The series, which was originally created by O’Barr as a means of dealing with the death of his girlfriend at the hands of a drunk driver, was first published by Caliber Comics in 1989. It became an underground success and was later adapted into a film of the same name in 1994. Three film sequels, a television series, and numerous books and comic books (published by numerous companies) have also been subsequently produced.” (Source)
