Earlier this month, we noticed with interest and concern that STARZ had pulled Season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead from their fall release schedule. While many wrote it off as normal network maneuvering, others feared there might be trouble in Elk Grove. Despite the fact that Bruce Campbell has whipped fans into a furry with hints of Ash’s daughter and a Season 3 finale that will change everything, STARZ is ridiculously and frustratingly mum on when the series will resume.
Today brings new conjecture—and it’s not good.
Here’s what Bruce Campbell, one of the biggest icons in horror, is saying about the STARZ situation in an interview with Red Carpet Crash:
STARZ is excited about the outcome. And I think they want to see those (Season 3, episode 9 and 10) in a finished forum and think it’ll help them make their decision. I know they really dig the last two episode so that may be enough to…and look, they are owned by Lionsgate now. They were purchased, now our bosses have bosses. So there’s a little more chain of command now. So we’ll see.
Now that Lionsgate owns STARZ, a bigger corporation is overseeing the series — performance is a must. Lionsgate, the studio behind the iconic Saw series, apparently isn’t seeing money from Ash vs Evil Dead, which is sad.
It may be time for fans to speak up; let STARZ know that Ash vs Evil Dead is important to you! Pick up Season 2 on Blu-ray/DVD when it becomes available next week. Raise your voice and let the world know that Ash vs Evil Dead is important, quality programming.
Yes, there’s a chance this is all much ado about nothing; considering Season 3 is almost done filming, it’s hard to image the show won’t arrive eventually. We’ll keep our ears to the ground to bring you updates as details emerge. Stay tuned!
