The Magic Castle in Hollywood has always been shrouded in mystery. It’s a supper club that features some of the world’s greatest magicians, as well as prominent up-and-comers, but as a member’s only establishment, entry is granted by invitation only. Those lucky enough to get inside might find themselves in one of several intimate venues, each sporting velvet curtains and vintage memorabilia. There are rumors of secret rooms and hidden archives that house enchanted and historical items, but last night something much more terrifying was discovered: A body in a closet.
What makes the discovery even more shocking is that the body was found stripped down to its underwear and had a bag tied over his head. At the time of this posting, it’s uncertain if police are treating this as a murder or a suicide.
Some dark magic at the Magic Castle tonight in Hollywood. Possible magician suicide. LAPD on scene.

In 2015, the Magic Castle’s founder, Milt Larsen, and his niece, Erika Larsen, the current president of the Academy of Magical Arts that runs the storied membership club, were embroiled in a legal battle over the 5.5 percent royalty from annual food and beverage sales at the club and in 2016 a class-action lawsuit was filed that alleged the management of the club had not paid at least one hundred hospitality workers’ wages in full.
It sounds like the plot of a horror movie, or at the very least a compelling mystery thriller, proving once again that truth is often stranger than fiction.
