Even before the conclusion of Prometheus and trailers for Alien: Covenant introduced us to a slew of hybrid breeds, attentive fans of the Alien franchise had already noticed the adaptable nature of the Xenomorph. In Alien 3, for example, we saw that an alien that gestates inside a dog will evolve differently than one birthed from a human. This was absolutely confirmed at the end of Alien vs Predator, when a “chest burster” with dreadlocks explodes from a hunter’s torso.
But while these examples were unique, they were still identifiable as Xenomorphs. The new breeds being teased in Alien: Covenant, however, have extreme differences; while they exhibit Xeno traits, Neomorphs and Protomorphs looks like vastly different species.

They include hybrids that appear in comic books, video games, and even toys. Since some won’t be officially introduced until Alien: Covenant invades US Theaters on May 19th, the information within is inherently spoilerish, to view at your own risk!
