Horror video gaming has become a billion dollar industry; 1st person survival-horror is extremely popular and advances in virtual reality and putting thrill-seekers closer to terror than ever before. At the same time, there’s been a resurgence in the popularity of board games, and horror is in the forefront in this arena as well; Mixtape Massacre has become incredibly popular (selling out of their initial run) and Infection at Outpost 31, based on John Carpenter’s The Thing is will be available from retailers and online this October.
The next project throwing its hat into the board game arena is Horror Boards, a collectible and expandable experience where kill count is king!
From today’s Press Release:
Horror Boards takes the horror genre events from the screen to our tabletop gaming fingertips by combining killing victims, finding weapons, fighting the victim that just won’t die, and plot twists, with horror archetypes battling each other, AND teaming up to take out as many victims as possible at once. Horror Boards answers the age-old question of, “Who would win in a horror movie battle royale?”
Horror Boards is being produced by Horror-Fix, which has a history of running some of the most interesting and widely shared news and reviews of independent horror movies, books, and games. They have promoted many products of the independent horror genre, which contributed to them being successfully funded via crowdfunding. Now, they are proud to step out from behind the curtain, introducing Horror Boards directly to consumers. Horror Boards is more than a board game to Horror-Fix; it is their love-child 6 years in the making.
The Horror Boards Team is currently securing final funding to offset manufacturing costs.
