Venom, Dr. Doom, and The Joker all have movies in the works, as superhero filmmakers venture deeper into horror territory by featuring some of the most chilling villains/antiheroes from comic books. It’s a sign of the times, perhaps, that genre fans feel more of a connection to complex, flawed characters than they do with decades-old good guys.

Next on the docket is Morbius the Living Vampire, one of Spiderman’s arch enemies. News came down this afternoon from The Hollywood Reporter.
Sony’s cinematic universe based on Spider-Man characters just got a little bigger. The studio is developing Morbius, a feature project centered on Spider-Man antihero Morbius the Living Vampire. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, who worked on the recent Power Rangers movie, wrote the script, which was just submitted to the studio after a secret development process.
If you’re a hardcore horror fan like myself, you may not know much about Morbius, although the added moniker “the Living Vampire” is instantly compelling.
