I don’t care what anyone says, I think Nic Cage is a national treasure (pun intended). Yes, he makes a lot of bad movies, but he’s never a film’s doomed element. If anything, he makes bad movies tolerable. Despite his reputation, he’s only over-the-top when necessary with the ability to be restrained. No matter the project, Cage gives 100%, and we never doubt that he’s completely embraced the characters he plays.

Cage’s larger-than-life abilities mean he’d make an awesome supervillain, and with so many superhero-themed films coming down the pike, it’s amazing we don’t see him playing more dastardly evil-doers. Still, in a recent interview with Joblo, Cage told journalist Paul Shirley which supervillain he’d be most down to play if given the opportunity.
Cage: “I always thought I’d make a great Joker and I always thought that I would’ve been a good villain in one of the Marvel [movies] like Doctor Doom. But, Doctor Doom you have to wear that mask, but I thought the story leading up to Doctor Doom could’ve been interesting. At this point, if I was to go back into the format it would probably have to be as a villain.”
The entire interview is definitely worth reading in its entirety, HERE.
Since there’s a Joker origin film in the works, produced by Martin Scorsese, we’re hoping Cage has the opportunity to fulfil his dream. Time will tell!
