Writer/director Ari Aster shocked audiences at Sundance and SXSW with his extreme supernatural creeper, Hereditary. While it’s Aster’s first feature film, a short he produced in 2011 proves he’s no stranger to conveying PTSD-inducing tales of family dysfunction. The Strange Things About the Johnsons might be tame on the gore meter, and slow-burn is the name of the game, but it goes to some dark places many simply won’t have the stomach to visit.
While there’s not much that’s NSFW, there are very mature themes, making The Strange Thing About the Johnsons very inappropriate for younger viewers. If you accept the challenge, let us know what you think in the Comments section.
