After Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) met with the business-end of Negan’s (Jeffery Dean Morgan) barb-wire-wrapped bat Lucille in Season 7’s premiere, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) descended into a dream sequence that was brief yet heartbreaking. He imagined the resident of Alexandria gathering for a Sunday dinner. It was in the not-too-distant future and revealed that Glenn’s child with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) is a son. We also see Abraham and Sasha (Sonequa Martin) sitting side-by-side, teeming with love. The fantasy made the reality of Rick’s actual situation all the more devastating.
On August 22nd, The Walking Dead Season 7 will be released on Blu-ray & DVD via a Winslow-themed box set. One of the extras, revealed exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, will be an extended, 4-minute version of the Sunday Dinner fantasy; if you thought it was gut-wrenching before, get ready to cry a river this time!
Warning: Below There Be Season 7 Spoilers!
We see Glenn playing with his son; the pair joins Eugene (Josh McDermitt) to play with a remote-control car before walking towards Maggie for a loving embrace. Before the Alexandrians gather around the table, we also see Abraham and Sasha sitting together, holding hands (as previously mentioned). This moment is even more tragic after Season 7 because we know now that Sasha is dead. Ready for some more salt in the wound? Sasha was pregnant. In this vision, Alexandria was a new Eden: A beautiful, thriving, peaceful community.
You can see the scene in its entirety over at EW (they didn’t even offer embed codes for this one!); we pulled some screenshots below.
