Jeremy Slater’s The Exorcist TV Series had its Season 2 debut on Fox last Friday, and fan wondering how the story could continue with the same intensity without the central Rance family got their answer. It’s been six months since we last saw Fathers Marcus and Thomas (played by Ben Daniels and Alfonso Herrera respectively), and the dynamic duo is struggling to exercise the wife of a Sherriff in rural America. In the meantime, we meet foster father extraordinaire Andrew Kim (played by John Cho) and his multicultural brood of adoptees.
These two separate storylines are destined to collide, and fans like me were impressed with the creepy, Blair Witch vibe established in Episode 1, Janus. In addition to visions of children’s handprints on a wall, we learn the legend of “The Island Witch”, a ghostly fiend libel to snatch up anyone brave (stupid) enough to explore her lair.
We’re also presented with a guessing game: Who’s going to be the victim of demonic possession? Each one of the adopted kids seems a potential candidate. We’ve got the punk rock atheist (Brianna Hildebrand), the token African American (Alex Barima), the blind kid who plays his records backward (Hunter Dillon), and the autistic sleepwalker (Cyrus Arnold). Of course, they could all be red herrings, setting us up for a shock.
The Exorcist Season 2 continues next Friday with Safe as Houses. Check out the trailer and synopsis below.
