Despite amassing legions of fans in 2016, The Exorcist TV series on FOX was not the ratings juggernaut producers had hoped. This left the show in limbo as its peers were all either canceled or renewed; as late as last May, the future of the show was still unknown. It was only after an unprecedented fan campaign and mounds of critical accolades that FOX renewed the show for a second season—which is currently halfway through its run.

Recent reports of a ratings uptick for The Exorcist means things may not be quite so suspenseful when it comes to Season 3. Even those who doubted the series could match the innovative shocks of Season 1 have been pleasantly surprised, as the show is still mining virgin territory with stories that are as fresh as they are disturbing.
FOX | Hell’s Kitchen (3.1 mil/0.8) was steady, while The Exorcist (1.54 mil/0.5) is currently eyeing gains of 25 percent.

About The Exorcist on FOX: Opening an entirely new chapter in the iconic franchise, Season Two of THE EXORCIST premieres Friday, September 29 (9:00 – 10:00 PM PT/ET), where FATHER TOMAS ORTEGA (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless MARCUS KEANE (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, FATHER BENNETT (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to ANDREW KIM (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two priests head west, setting themselves on a collision course with Hell.
