2003’s Freddy vs Jason was the most commercially successful film of both the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th franchises. Despite early attempts to capitalize with a sequel, Freddy vs Jason 2 never materialized. Over a decade later, that boat has left the harbor with Robert Englund recently confirming the lauded crossover is the absolute conclusion of Freddy Krueger’s story arc.
While Freddy lives in comics, video games, and even the panned reboot of 2010, Jason has likewise been absent from film since his own underwhelming reboot in 2009. Though the idea of an onscreen rematch seems as unlikely at this point as a Smiths Reunion concert, the battle continues in fan films.
Stuart Jaymes’ Freddy vs Jason: Condemned is one of the better fan films out there—and one of the most ambitious. It’s a trilogy with the first 2 chapters having been released over the past year (Part 2 hit the ‘net last June). The first one sees the dastardly duo reunited in Freddy’s nightmare world, where the Springwood Slasher revels in attempts to put down Crystal Lake’s “sick dog!”
Part 2 is set in Jason’s home turf with a slew of camp counselors becoming collateral damage in the ongoing clash of slashers! We’ll have to wait until Part 3 arrives to see who ultimately emerges victorious, but you can watch the first 2 installments below.
