We’ve been following the production of Shane Black’s Predator reboot, The Predator, since the project was first announced in 2016. Nearing completion up in Vancouver, The Predator looks to annihilate the competition during the summer blockbuster season of 2018. And while we’ve been treated to a few behind-the-scenes shots of the sizable ensemble cast in action (and even some leaked photos), we have yet to see what the titular Predators will look like this time around—until now.
A photo recently surfaced on Instagram from someone with confirmed accesses to the set; while I couldn’t personally locate the account or the user, the image is revealed in the video below from Hybrid Network. What we see is, well, it’s pretty fucking incredible.
We’d been told that Black’s The Predator would be unlike anything we’ve seen from the franchise so far, and the leaked image is undeniable proof: This time, it would appear, human and Predators and working together to fight a common enemy (most likely, an even nastier breed of super Predators). Check out the video below, followed by a screenshot of the leaked image.
I suppose there’s a possibility that this is just a shot of the actors goofing off between takes, but let’s assume this really does reflect a scripted moment:Not only do we see humans and Predators riding on the same tank, the aliens are dressed in US Military fatigues. It seems the ranks were opened to men, woman, and intergalactic renegade hunters!
We still don’t have a trailer or synopsis for The Predator, as producers are keeping key plot points in the vault. We don’t even have an official poster yet!
The sizable ensemble cast includes Thomas Jane, Jake Busey, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, and Augusto Aguilera (and not Arnold Schwarzenegger *wink*wink*).Of course, we’ll keep you posted whenever new Predator details emerge, so check back often. In the meantime, check out the trailer and synopsis for the original Predator, released in 1987, below.
In the original Predator (Official Synopsis): Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a soldier of fortune, is hired by the U.S. government to secretly rescue a group of politicians trapped in Guatemala. But when Dutch and his team, which includes weapons expert Blain (Jesse Ventura) and CIA agent George (Carl Weathers), land in Central America, something is gravely wrong. After finding a string of dead bodies, the crew discovers they are being hunted by a brutal creature with superhuman strength and the ability to disappear into its surroundings.
Ironically, director Shane Black had a bit-part in Predator, alongside Schwarzenegger. He played Hawkins who was, unfortunately, the aggressive alien’s first kill.
What do you guys think this image implies? Are human and Predators on the same side this time? And what kind of common enemy could bring former enemies together? Let’s hypothesize in the Comments section!
