20th Century Fox has been in talks with Disney to sell off its studio division, as the former is interested in focusing exclusively on news and sports. While the corporate maneuverings of big Hollywood studios are hardly of interest to the casual horror fan, it’s worth noting that, if executed, it means the “House of Mouse” will control the futures of the Alien and Predator franchises—properties genre aficionados hold near and dear.
Walt Disney Co. recently held talks to purchase a large chunk of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment businesses, people close to the discussions said, signaling that Disney is serious about bolstering its laggard TV operations and that media mogul Rupert Murdoch is open to a surprising restructuring of his empire.
