We just announced yesterday that the 3rd Season of Twin Peaks, returning to TV after a 25-year hiatus, will premiere on Showtime on May 21st. The news came from David Lynch himself who was participating in a panel at the Television Critics Association. While he was characteristically vague (evasive?) about the specifics of the series, Lynch gave fans one bit of important information:
“The story of Laura Palmer’s last seven days is very, very important for this.”
The TV Series, which premiered on ABC in 1990, starts on the morning after Laura Palmer’s (Sheryl Lee) death. The prequel, Fire Walk with Me (released in 1992), however, deals with the days leading up to her murder. It seems clear, then, that fans of Twin Peaks will definitely want to reacquaint themselves with the film before the show returns on May.
In Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (Official Synopsis): A young FBI agent disappears while investigating a murder miles from Twin Peaks that may be related to the future murder of Laura Palmer; the last week of the life of Laura Palmer is chronicled.
Fire Walk with Me also features a cameo by David Bowie, who passed away at the age of 69 1 year ago.
