We’re not going to bring you down by eating up half of your day recounting the endless troubles the big screen remake of Stephen King’s It has run into. That would be a waste of your time. What won’t be a waste of your time is this awesome, awesome news: Bill Skarsgard has signed on to portray Pennywise the Clown, the evil bastard that Tim Curry Made Famous about 25 years ago.
This is good news people.
Skarsgard, who made his name known through a stint on Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, looks like an amazing fit for the character. This dude’s a little creepy without any clown makeup, I can’t imagine what he’ll look like once he’s all decked out as Pennywise! He’s got some piercing eyes as well, and something tells me that could make the clown creepier than ever.
According to The Hollywood Reporter it’s a lock, and Skarsgard is officially in for the film, which is scheduled to begin filming this very summer! The remainder of the recently announced cast includes Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor.
Andy Muschietti (Mama) will direct the first film (the story is split into two separate features, one which will focus on the Loser’s Club as children, and one that will focus on the same group all grown up, ill prepared to face an evil they’d hoped they had left behind decades prior. As it stands, it’s believed that Muschietti will also direct the second picture as well.
Keep it locked – we’ll have more for you soon!
